Pain Relief Services
Living with pain can be exhausting—physically, mentally, and emotionally. Whether it’s ongoing discomfort, post-surgical pain, or symptoms made worse by stress, the effects of pain can ripple through every part of life. At Optimal Pain Relief, I offer a compassionate, integrative approach that works with your mind and body, supporting real, lasting relief.
Understanding Pain – The Pain Gate Theory

Pain isn’t just a physical sensation—it’s influenced by how the brain interprets signals from the body. The Pain Gate Theory helps explain this. According to this model, the spinal cord acts like a “gate” that regulates the flow of pain signals to the brain. When the gate is open, more signals pass through, and pain is felt more intensely. When the gate is closed, fewer signals reach the brain, reducing the sensation of pain.
What opens or closes the gate? Emotional stress, anxiety, trauma, and tension can all leave the gate wide open. In contrast, relaxation, positive focus, emotional release, and therapeutic input can help close the gate, easing pain and restoring balance.
My work is focused on helping you gently close that gate—supporting your body’s natural healing response and creating space for relief.
A Blended Approach to Pain Relief
Each person’s experience of pain is unique, so I draw on a combination of techniques to meet your individual needs. My approach blends hypnotherapy, Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT), and coaching to support both physical relief and emotional wellbeing.
Hypnotherapy
Hypnotherapy creates a deeply relaxed, focused state where the nervous system can calm and the body can begin to unwind pain responses. In this state, we can work with the unconscious mind to reframe the experience of pain, interrupt unhelpful patterns, and activate the brain’s natural pain-relieving mechanisms.
Hypnotherapy can be especially helpful in the lead-up to surgery—reducing anxiety, calming the mind, and preparing the body for healing. Research has shown that individuals who use hypnosis before surgery often recover more smoothly, with reduced pain, lower stress levels, and faster healing afterward. It’s a powerful way to support your body and mind through each stage of the process.
Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT)

EFT, or “tapping,” combines talk therapy with gentle stimulation of acupressure points. It helps release the emotional charge that can contribute to pain, such as fear, frustration, or past trauma. By calming the body’s stress response, EFT lowers cortisol levels, soothes the nervous system, and helps shift pain from the inside out. Many clients notice a softening of physical symptoms after just a few sessions.
Coaching
Pain can impact your confidence, sense of direction, and day-to-day decisions. That’s where coaching comes in. Rather than exploring the past, coaching helps you focus on where you are now and where you’d like to be. Together, we explore how pain is affecting your life, uncover any patterns that may be keeping you stuck, and develop simple, supportive strategies to move forward with more clarity and confidence.
Coaching helps build resilience, restore self-belief, and bring structure and support to your healing process—so that you don’t just cope with pain, but feel empowered in how you respond to it.
